Condolence From: Sarah Fessler
Condolence: To the Families of the 4 Police Officers that got killed: You have been in my thoughts and prayers. My heart goes out to each and every one of you; especially, during this time. I will definitely be thinking of you, on Christmas Day; I know how hard it's going to be without your loved-one. I want you to always remember the HAPPY memories of your loved one, okay? please know that they are in a better place now. If you know the song, "Hero" by Mariah Carey, would you please play that song, every time you're sad? it is one of my favorite songs. I truly think that ALL of the Police Officers are HEROES!!! they're always looking out for everyone and risking their lives. I believe that no matter what, you guys will say to yourself, "My Dad/husband/Mom" will be my HERO always and forever. GOD BLESS EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU!!!! Love Always, Sarah Fessler Gig Harbor, WA

Condolence From: Terri Cook
Condolence: My prayers are with the spouses, children, families, friends and co-workers of these four brave officers. How easy it is for us as civilians, to take what these officers did for granted. We always know they are there, yet only notice when we need them or when an officer has been killed in the line of duty and became the evening news. My brother was an officer and so I know first hand how their families had to take each day as it came and to make it the best day, every day. May we all take notice now of all officers and their courage to put their life on the line every minute of every day for all of us. To protect and to serve. May God Bless and keep all the ones whose lives were touched in some manner by these brave men and women. You are each in my prayers that God will grant you strength to carry on. For the love of a nation will shine through this tragic offense and we will all work harder to keep our officers out of harms way. God Bless You. Terri Cook, Sister to Sgt. Gaylon Ledington (EOW July 10, 2006)

Condolence From: Dawn Loshbaugh
Condolence: "Angels In Blue" I had this friend you see, who loved God, Country, You and me. My friend went to work day or night the peace to keep, so you and I could sleep. He worked the holidays and weekends, away from family and friends. To keep this peace for you and me. Each day this friend put his life on the line to spare yours and mine. Then one day he paid the price, he gave his life. You've done well my friend, patrolling these earthly streets. Now it's time to walk on Heaven's beat. The next time you see a Police Officer or two, remember they are one of God's Angels in Blue. And God said; "Blessed are the Peace Makers." I found this poem and it seemed to fit. My condolences to the families and co-workers of these four fallen officers. Dawn Loshbagh Dispatcher Cottage Grove PD

Condolence From: Ranger Mike Hainey
Condolence: Please accept my heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of Mark, Tina, Ronald, and Greg. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this time of loss; both the community and our society suffer when four exceptional police officers are taken from us in a brutal and cowardly attack. A special prayer and thank you to fellow Ranger Mark Renninger. I didn’t have the honor of personally knowing you, but I know of your courage and dedication. Like you, I transitioned from serving our beloved country as a soldier to serving our community as a police officer. We serve and continue to serve not because of visions of recognition or awards, but from the fulfillment gained from helping our fellow man and making the world a better place for others. I pray that God and your loved ones will provide each of you with love, comfort, and strength throughout your bereavement. May God Bless All of You. Respectfully, Mike Hainey Baghdad

Condolence From: Debby
Condolence: There are two types of people... People that want to do good and work hard at something that is worth while ...the HEROES Then there are the other type of people that want to do bad and and work at nothing!...the COWARDS! They all made a choice...do GOOD or EVIL! The EVIL COWARDS always take the EASY WAY OUT! My heart aches for Family,friends,co-workers and everyone that these brave officers impacted during their lives. How many young people will now dedicate their lives to good and proudly serve their community as these offcers have. My thoughts are with you and yours during this most difficult and sad time.

Condolence From: A Brother
Condolence: Saint Michael, heaven's glorious commissioner of police, who once so neatly and successfully cleared God's premises of all its undesirables, look with kindly and professional eyes on your earthly force. Give us cool heads, stout hearts, and uncanny flair for investigation and wise judgement. Make us the terror of burglars, the friend of children and law-abiding citizens, kind to strangers, polite to bores, strict with law-breakers and impervious to temptations. You know, Saint Michael, from your own experiences with the devil that the police officer's lot on earth is not always a happy one; but your sense of duty that so pleased God, your hard knocks that so surprised the devil, and your angelic self-control give us inspiration. And when we lay down our night sticks, enroll us in your heavenly force, where we will be as proud to guard the throne of God as we have been to guard the city of all he people. Amen. May you all rest in peace and may your families gain strength from knowing a nation grieves with them. you have served and paid the greatest sacrifice.

Condolence From: Steve Gurr
Condolence: What can be said to convey my depth of condolences? My heart groans for you, their families. I worked with Mark Renninger during his years at Tukwila. After he left for the city of Lakewood whenever I saw him I always tried to coax him to "come home". He is one of a number of officers who I have kept tabs on. Having been a cop for over twenty years I have had an opportunity to work with many good cops, but Mark was in a special group. He had a rare of combination of skills. He had the ability to quickly assess a situation correctly. He seemed to always have a solid approach and plan. Added to all of this his wit was second to none. He was a man's man but you always knew he had a deep passion for both the people around him and his family. He was one of the best police officers I have ever been associated with. I missed him badly after he left Tukwila. I occasionally spoke with him and always asked about him whenever I ran into associates. May the many memories of the different facets of this fine man, husband, father, brother, son, friend, and fellow police officer keep you and us as time passes.

Condolence From: John Dobrzynski
Condolence: It is with our deepest sympathy and condolences that I send this email. The loss that Lakewood PD is having to deal with is unimaginable. We offer our prayers and support to each member of your family during this extremely difficult time. Words alone - will not express the feelings that are shared across the Country - the sadness and senseless loss - that you are going through. There is a saying that clearly describes what is held true of each member of your family that has been lost: "It is not how they died - that made them heroes - it is how they lived." On December 9, 2009, We will be having an awards ceremony for the City of Milwaukee Police / Community Block Watch Captains. At the beginning of the ceremony - we will be reading the names of Sgt Mark Renninger, Police Officer Ronald Owens, Police Officer Tina Griswold and Police Officer Greg Richards, - in recognition / remembrance. Our behalf of the entire Department - Aurora Health Care Loss Prevention Services / Milwaukee, WI Our Deepest Sympathy, John Dobrzynski

Condolence From: Sheila Powell Beckstrom
Condolence: I am so sorry about the loss of the all of our fallen officers. My heart breaks for their husband's wives and children. I pray that God will give you the strength and comfort that you all will need to heal from this horrific event. I especially miss Tina. I not only worked with her at Hudtloff and Lakes High School, but I was a friend of hers that had the opportunity of going out socially with her. On many occasions I was able to enjoy a cup of coffee with her a or just sit and converse as she would visit my Steilacoom home. Tina always talked about and shared stories about Marcus and how proud she was of her little boy. My nieces and nephews had the opportunity to spend many weekend nights with Marcus at Jen's house playing, so Tina and a group of all of us could go out and enjoy a fun evening of dancing. Tina no matter what the situation when asked, was the one you could count on to assist you and she would respond with a cheerful attitude and a heart of compassion. She was a great SRO, spitfire patrol officer and a compassionate loving friend. Remember Dorothy Halloween 2006. RIP Gone but never forgotten. I WILL MISS YOU GIRLFRIEND. LOVE YA Sheila (Powell) Beckstrom Lakes High School P-210.

Condolence: I am the Mother of a Tacoma Police Officer, my family sends our love and prayers to you all. It is so important as parents of law enforcement to show our support, for this dangerous career choice, and not show our concern or fear which would distract our loved ones from what they want to do and love to do. I can assure you all that my son chose this career not only because he wanted to be a police officer, but because he wants to serve his community. Our Lakewood Family members will be missed, and always remembered with respect and love.

Condolence From: Kelvin Hall
Condolence: My wife - Judy Hall, wrote these comments as she reflected on both our sons being police officers here in British Columbia. I wanted to share them with you. For the four fallen Lakewood Police Officers who I did not know I ask myself: Why do I wake up with grief stricken tears in my eyes that I went to sleep with and shed all day long for these Officers who I did not know? Why does my heart beat with agony and sorrow for these Officers who I did not know? Why as a mother do I carry this deep pain inside my soul for these Officers who I did not know? All I can think of is that the day my children became Police Officers, all Police Officers became my children too. So to Officers Tina Griswold, Ronald Owens, Mark Renninger and Greg Richards of the Lakewood Police Department I know you rest in a better place now and I share in my children’s grief. May God be with the parents, spouses and families of these Officers who I shall carry in my heart forever as I do with all other fallen Police Officers who I did not know.

Condolence From: Coley Reed
Condolence: I wish I had words that would make you feel better but you've probably heard a ton of efforts at that. What do you say to 4 families that have lost someone who was not only a hero but a dear loved one? Your special someone did a great service to our area and was known & loved by so many...I am so sorry that one person who hated such an honorable position took out that hate on your officer. A cop isn't just a cop, he or she is so many things to so many people! I am truly sorry for your loss. I'm positive that a lot of Pierce County residents will never look at their morning latte the same. This is a tragic event that will be mourned for eternity. Deepest Sympathy

Condolence From: Angie West, NC
Condolence: The loss of one officer is too many and the loss of four is nearly unbearable. As the sister of a fallen officer, I understand and know the emotions each family faces this week. I encourage each of you to rely on your family and friends and to rely on that thin blue line to take care of you now. Your officers fellow officers need you as much as you need them. I pray that the family, friends and co-workers find peace and your new "normal".

Condolence From: Lakewood PD Officer Karen Herritt
Condolence: I have worked with Tina, Greg, and Ronnie for the past 5 years and with Mark for the past 9 - both in Lakewood and in Tukwila. There is not enough room here to list the amazing attributes of each of them....where do I even start? I loved talking to Tina about her son - he is just 2 years younger than my own, and her daughter and we connected over the love of our families. She was an extremely proud mom above all else. Ronnie and Greg were two of the most positive people I have ever known. Both always had a big smile and a warm word for everyone they knew and were the type of guys that people were naturally drawn to. Mark was the most competent police officer I have ever known, but he would just as soon brag to me about his beautiful kids and his wife than he would about SWAT or police tactics. I cannot say enough how much they will all be missed. They, and you, their families, will remain in our hearts always.

Condolence: They stood up... They showed up... They stepped forward... They raised their right hands... They stood in the gap. They walked in the fire... They did not run... They did not hide... They did not dodge... They did not evade. Consequently.... They had nothing to prove... No one to convince... Those who matter... already know. Those who don't, never will.

Condolence From: Lisa L. Cooper
Condolence: To the family, friends, and co-workers of Sgt. Renninger and Ofc. Griswold, Owens and Richards: you have our heartfelt condolences. Our hearts are especially heavy with sadness tonight, knowing that Tuesday will be very difficult for all. Tomorrow at 1pm, we will be praying even more for you, and you will be in our thoughts long after tomorrow. Although I live in Sacramento and have not met any of you or these 4 heroes, I felt compelled to communicate as this heinous, senseless and cowardly ambush killings outrage us all --- as demonstrated by the postings from all over the world. Please know that the public loves LEOs, and their families as well for supporting them so they can do a job which may not always be appreciated by the very people whom LEOs have sworn to protect and serve; their unselfishness and love for the public is heartwarming. I have family and friends who are cops, so I have some inkling as to the level of commitment and sacrifice involved for both the police officer and the family. I am so sorry that they gave the ultimate sacrifice in keeping us safe. May you find some comfort in knowing that although they no longer walk this earth, they have left their imprint in the hearts of so many, and they are at peace in God's loving arms. May the memories of your loved one help you through this difficult time and help you to heal. God bless.

Condolence From: Brian Zimmerman
Condolence: On behalf of 230 Federal Correctional Officers at Kent Maximum Security Institution in Agassiz, British Columbia, Canada, I would like to extend our deepest sympathies to all the families, fellow officers, and the community. To the families; be strong in the belief that your mother/father, wife/husband and sister/brother gave their lives to protect all of you and gave their lives so that you would remain safe. To all fellow officers; there is no explanation which can give you any kind of true closure to this tragedy. To that end, I extended our deepest sympathies to you all. Brothers and Sisters in uniform become an integral part of all of us in the law enforcement community. I wish you all the best with your recovery. The PRIDE, SOLIDARITY and DIGNITY that these officers pledged to the community and the flag, speaks volumes of the commitment of these officers. Words cannot describe who these officers were; only shed a glimmer into their lives. Many a night we call on the police, fire or ambulance to keep us safe but seldom do we take the time to thank them on a daily basis. I would encourage you all to take more time out of your day to honour the fallen, and the serving members as they give us the freedoms we enjoy. Respectfully Brian Zimmerman President Kent Institution Union of Canadian Correctional Officers Agassiz, British Columbia, Canada
