Resident of Washington state, Donald was born in Canada June 27, 1955. He lost his battle with cancer on February 2, 2013.

Donald served ten years in the U.S. Army which trained him in a career as a mechanic. He married Robin (Burns) in 1984. Together they had two daughters, “the joys of his life”. His heart was captured in 2011 with the birth of his granddaughter, Evalin.

He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed his time on the water. Everyone will miss his unique sense of humor, quick wit, and his mouth-watering barbeque steaks and teriyaki chicken.

Donald is survived by his wife, Robin (Burns) Tonnessen, daughters, Laura Tonnessen and Sierra (Matt) Nelson, granddaughter, Evalin Nelson, mother, Bonnie Tonnessen, brothers, David Tonnessen and Steve Tonnessen, sister, Sharon (Paul) Utley, nieces, Beth Utley, Jenny Utley, and Kara Tonnessen, and nephew, Christopher Tonnessen.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, February 8, 2013 in the Mountain View Garden Chapel.
