Born in Stigler, Oklahoma and married John Tyler (deceased July 7 1982) (her soul mate) in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Sept 15, 1944. Jo was a career army wife and a mother of six children. They lived in Georgia, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Okinawa, Oregon and they retired in Washington. She lived more than 60 years in the Tacoma/Lakewood area.

Jo loved cooking, sewing, doing embroidery and ceramics. Jo was dedicated to her family. Her family members are Darlene (Dugan-deceased) Harrah, Oklahoma, Johnny (deceased), Becky (Tom) Oxnard, California, Debbie (Rudy) Lakewood, Washington, Stephen (Sue) Oregon City, Oregon, Michael Lakewood, Washington, a sister, Jannette (Jerry) Ackley Tulsa, Oklahoma, a brother, Jimmy (Betsy) Ross Tulsa, Oklahoma. Jo has 19 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren, plus 2 more great-great grandchildren expected in 2013.

She is joining in death her husband John, her parents Gus and Leona Ross, 2 brothers John Ross and James Ross, son Johnny, daughter Sheila, son-in-law Dugan Dewitt, grand-daughter Courtney and grandson Tommy. Interment was at Mountain View Cemetery.
