Obituary for Edward Blaine Goebel

Edward Â"Blaine” Goebel, age 85, past away at St. Clare Hospital in Lakewood, WA on February 5, 2006. He was born in Beuna, Washington, on July 21, 1920, the youngest of nine children born to William Goebel and Lucy Bonge. Blaine served briefly in the Marine Corps from 1939 to 1940 before receiving a medical discharge. He later served in the Washington Army National Guard as a Nike anti-aircraft missile technician in the 50s and 60s and achieved the rank of Master Sergeant. He met Hazel Fisher during a stop over in Prince Rupert, BC while working on a tug boat based out of Alaska. They were married in May 1945. They had five children. They were divorced in 1967. He re-married in 1970 to Dorothy Trusty. Blaine worked as a meat cutter for Lynnwood Freezer Meats in the 60s, and later as a grounds keeper for St. Martins College in Lacey until his retirement in the 80s. Blaine was an avid gardener.Blaine was preceded in death by his parents as well as all of his siblings Â- Sophia Krug, Jesse Black, Lewis Goebel, Charles Goebel, Alfred Goebel, Harriet, Mary Cook, James Goebel, and his second wife Dorothy, who passed away in 2001. He is survived by his first wife Hazel Marsh, his sons Gary Goebel of Camano Island, Gregory Goebel of Seattle, Grant Goebel of Vancouver, Wa, daughters Annette Sanchez of Lacey and Lynne Anderson of Vancouver, Wa. Also six grandchildren - Raina Smith, Edward Z. Goebel, Rebecca Phillips, Krysta Goebel, Ryan Goebel, Ivan Goebel and four great-grandchildren - Izaak, Arryk, Kayden, and Timothy, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
